In fact, some of my proudest moments have involved helping clients avoid removal from the United States. ICE is new to many Americans, but I’ve been dealing with them since 2008.
In one noteworthy case, I fought for 14 years to help a Soviet refugee win the right for “Judaism” to be listed as his race, not his religion. He was a devout Jew and didn’t want to fight in the Red Army. He won his asylum petition, and I’m still in touch with him today.
Who I Am, And How I Got Started
I speak Portuguese, Spanish, and English, and have worked with clients from a wide range of backgrounds. I’ve represented clients as far abroad as Brazil, and have a deep love for God, family, travel, food, and soccer, too.
When I was at Rutgers College, I was initially pursuing an accounting and philosophy degree. But during a frisbee game with a philosophy professor of mine, he suggested law. That struck me as a funny option at first, but I’ve come to love the law.
Why? More than anything, legal work allows me to protect people. I can protect my clients from outrageous claims, loss, injustice, and uncertainty. I can put my problem-solving abilities to work, helping clients understand what comes next and working towards optimal outcomes.
